Individual & Voluntary Disability Programs -Aflac
  • At this time ONLY "Choices," "Options" & "Flex" participants, as L.A. County Employees, do not pay into California State Disability Insurance (SDI) nor do they pay into Social Security Insurance (SSI).   

  • Maternity Benefits: There is a 10 month waiting period (limitation) after the effective date of coverage where the insured cannot deliver a child. 

  • "On & Off-Job Disability" plans are available under the Accident Plan with base accident disability and sickness disability plan rider.

  • Pre-existing Condition Limitation - Disabilities caused by a Pre-Existing Condition will not be covered unless it begins more than either 6, 12 or 24 months after the Effective Date of coverage depending on the type of plan.

  • The Gerber Life Insurance, Grow-Up Plan (Ages: 14 days old up to 14 years of age.)

  • Recovery Benefits" are available for individuals and/or family members.

  • Considering "disability management" programs, recovery benefits" are 24 hours and provide around-the-clock" insurance coverage.

  • These are lump sum benefits that  are paid to insureds to "recover" from either an insurable accident or an insurable sickness.

  • Lump Sum" benefits are paid based on policy specifications through healthcare utilization as one is under doctor's care.

  • These benefits will also pay in addition to Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability and Workers' Compensation benefits.

  • Coverage examples are: Accident Insurance, Cancer Insurance, Hospital (Sickness) Indemnity Insurance, Heart Attack/Stroke Insurance and etc. 

  • There are also Guaranteed Issue "Recovery Benefit" plan options for those people who have existing conditions and who still need "Recovery Benefit" coverage.

  • Recovery Benefits"may also be illustrated as healthcare, dental & vision insurance plans where benefits are paid to the insured for healthcare, dental & vision services rendered.
